Prof. Eric Tournié is a senior member of Institut Universitaire de France (IUF).

He obtained his PhD in 1990 from the University of Montpellier (F). From 1990 to 1993 he was a staff member of the Max-Planck-Institute in Stuttgart (D), working on InAs-based highly-strained heterostructures on InP and GaAs substrates. In 1993 he moved to Paul-Drude-Institute in Berlin (D). Late 1993 he joined CRHEA/CNRS, Valbonne (F), to work on ZnSe-based heterostructures for blue-green lasers. In 1999 he initiated a program on GaInNAs heterostructures and devices for telecom and solar-cells applications. In 2002 he became Professor of Electrical Engineering at Université of Montpellier (F) where he is now head of the III-Sb group. 

E. Tournié coordinated several european (GINA1.5 FET-IST (FP5), DOMINO (FP6, 2005 – 2008)) and national projects. He has also been the principal investigator for UM in the NEMIS (FP6, 2006 – 2009), TRAIN2 (FEDER SUDOE 2011-12), PROMIS (H2020 ITN 2015 - 2019) projects. He is the coordinator of OPTOSi (ANR 2012), GreatGaSby (ASTRID 2013), MOREMIR (ANR 2013) and ANTIPODE (ANR 2014) projects and of the EXTRA EquipEx, part of the FRench prgram on "Investments for the Futrure".

E. Tournié is a member of the Program Committee and/or Int. Advisory Committee of the Int. Conf. on Mid-Infrared Optoelectronics: Materials and Devices (MIOMD), Int. MBE conference, Int. Symposium on Compounds Semiconductors (ISCS), Euro-MBE series. He has been the general chair of ISCS 2014, MIOMD 2014 and MBE 2016. He serves regularly as an expert for French programs as well as for the EU (FP6, FP7, H2020) and as a referee for several scientific journals. He was a member of the Editorial Board of J of Physics D: Applied Physics (2010 - 2016) and he is an associate editor for Electronics Letters since 2016.

E. Tournié is author/co-author of ~ 200 papers in refereed journals and contributed ~100 communications in international conferences.
